Blackpool hoteliers welcome booking website review

The UK’s competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority, is looking into the way some sites operate including whether they are making misleading claims about discounts.

Ian White, a director at hoteliers group StayBlackpool, said: “This news is brilliant for Blackpool accommodation providers, but also a personal victory.

“For nearly four years I have been raising many of the issues that have finally been investigated.

“One of the big online travel agents in particular is certainly not the booker’s friend.

They make out to be, or indeed the friend of the decent accommodation providers.

“I even went to the Manchester office of one to face them with my evidence.”
