The group of mostly former students from Blackpool and The Fylde College have released All Contact Lost on the international online games platform Steam.

Leon Priestley, one of the founders of 1st Impact Games, said it had been two years of hard work but the feeling of seeing the game finally released was “fantastic”.

The game is a shooter set in space where a human base on the moon suddenly comes under attack from aliens and the player has to fight off waves of bug-like attackers.

Leon, 24, said: “If you have ever seen the film Starship Troopers you will know the premise.

“We have had our ups and downs and there are still may things to be done and improvements and extras to add but we are getting great comments and recommendations online.

"When we set the date for the release, I thought it will be just another day, but as we got to 10 minutes before release I was very excited. It was a fantastic feeling.”

Leon and his team of 24 say that with feedback from the online gaming community they will be able to improve the game and they will add a player versus player mode and a campaign with a longer story line.

Leon added: “I would like to thank the people who have supported us.

“I would like to see games development become a big part of Blackpool in the future and for it to shape the image of Blackpool.

“We want to link with the college, there is plenty of talent in the area.”
