A man missed appointments to do unpaid work for the community.

Kieran Curran, 29, of Sandicroft Road, North Shore, who appeared at court via the videolink, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a court order.

He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £60 costs.

Tina Crook, prosecuting for the probation service, said Curran had previously been sentenced to a 12 months community order with 120 hours unpaid work to the community for offences of failing to provide a specimen for testing, careless driving and failing to stop after an accident.

Between January 25 and February 1, Curran failed to keep appointments and did not provide evidence for his absences. He had completed just 40 hours payback work.

Natalie Stanton, 40, failing to comply with court order

A woman was arrested after failing to keep appointments with her probation officer.

Natalie Stanton, 40, of Raikes Parade, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to not complying with a court order.

Her community order was extended by 12 months and she was sentenced to an extra 20 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service.

Tina Crook, prosecuting for the probation service, said Stanton had previously been sentenced to a community order for an offence of stealing from a person.

She failed to keep two appointments with her probation officer in February and also missed appointments between February 26 and March 1.

Teresa Holmes. 50. failure to attend child’s regular attendance at school

A mother was sentenced to do unpaid work for the community after her second conviction for failing to ensure her son attended school regularly.

Teresa Holmes, 50. of Newton Drive, Layton, had been found guilty in her absence of the offence under the Education Act.

She was arrested after a warrant was issued.

The court heard how Holmes had a 12-year-old son, who over a period last year, had 26 unauthorised absences from school.

Probation officer Brian Weatherington told the hearing that Holmes’ son had suffered from illnesses but the mother had failed to get medical evidence to pass onto the education authorities. Holmes was ordered to do 60 hours unpaid work for the community.

She must pay £120 costs and £85 victims’ surcharge.

Grant Sandiford, 32, failure to comply with probation service

A man who breached the terms of his supervision after his released from jail has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Grant Sandiford, 32, of Parklands, Catterall, admitted failing to comply with the probation service.

Sandiford failed to keep appointments and used bus tokens given to him by the service to pay for personal travel.

Sandiford was jailed for two months, suspended for a year and he must obey a 12-week curfew.

James Whitley, 36, breach of a restraining order

A court has acquitted a man of breaching a restraining order.

James Whitley, 36, who lives and works at the Old Bridge pub on Lytham Road, South Shore, is forbidden to have contact with a former female partner.

However he was arrested when a man contacted police and said Whitley had been seen talking to the woman outside another pub in the area.

As a result Whitley was arrested and charged with breaching the court order.

However, magistrates heard how Whitley had been the victim of a man with a grudge against him.

Gerry Coyle, defending, told the hearing: “The so-called police informant is a man with a grudge.

“Mr Whitley barred him from the Old Bridge pub for using drugs on the premises.

He has also been putting comments about Mr Whitley on Facebook saying he is a woman batterer. Basically the allegation has been made up it is complete rubbish.”

Martin McCann, 31, failure to comply with a restraining order

A man has appeared in court over the videolink from Preston Prison facing two charges of breaching a court order.

Martin McCann, 31, of Crystal Road, South Shore, pleaded not guilty to two offences of failing to comply with a restraining order by going to an address in the resort’s Lonsdale Road where he knew a woman was living he was banned from contacting.

McCann has also denied assaulting a male police sergeant at Blackpool on February 1. McCann was remanded in custody towards his trial on March 28.
