Blackpool Construction firm Evolution helps restore iconic Wedding Chapel ahead of 15th anniversary
“It was a really interesting project to be involved in.”
A Blackpool construction firm has revealed its role in the refurbishment of the town’s iconic Wedding Chapel, helping restore the distinctive seafront landmark ahead of its 15th anniversary.
Evolution Limited said its team carried out extensive refurbishment works at the award-winning venue, which stands on the Promenade opposite Blackpool Tower. The company said: “Helping an iconic Blackpool landmark shine again.
“We're proud to have played a key role in the refurbishment of Blackpool's iconic Wedding Chapel, helping restore one of the resort's most recognisable buildings ahead of its 15th anniversary. Located on the Promenade opposite Blackpool Tower, the award-winning venue has welcomed more than 6,000 couples since opening in 2012.”

“The project also provided valuable experience for the next generation of construction professionals, with two Evolution apprentices involved in the works,” continued the statement. “A fantastic project to be part of, working with Blackpool Council to help preserve a landmark that holds a special place in the hearts of thousands of couples and visitors.”
Contracts Manager Ben Reader said: "The Wedding Chapel has a really striking design with an overhanging cantilevered balcony. None of our team had worked on anything like it before. It was a really interesting project to be involved in. We were the first team on site and the last team off it. It was very satisfying to have been there at the beginning and be back there to complete it."
The refurbishment comes after the Wedding Chapel recently featured in the news following an incident in which a window was damaged. Blackpool Council said an officer attended the scene following the incident, which was believed to have been vandalism. ENVECO cleared away broken glass from the area, which was barriered off to protect the public.
The chapel has also been the subject of rumours over its future in recent months.
Concerns were raised by brides-to-be after VisitBlackpool’s Visitor Information Centre relocated from Festival House to the Blackpool Tower complex. Worried couples contacted Anchorsholme member Cllr Cooper amid fears that weddings at the distinctive golden, angular-shaped building could be cancelled.
However, those concerns were addressed publicly, with Cllr Cooper told there was no truth to the rumours and that the future of the amenity, often referred to simply as Blackpool Wedding Chapel, was assured.

About the Wedding Chapel
Festival House (now widely known as The Wedding Chapel) officially opened its doors to the public in January 2012. The first official ceremony took place shortly after on January 12, 2012. Located right on the iconic seafront Promenade, the £2.7 million building features spectacular views of both the Irish Sea and the Blackpool Tower.
Originally conceived as a multi-use hub with a tourist information center, the building’s primary focus became its renowned ceremony spaces, leading to an official name change to The Wedding Chapel in June 2014.
By 2022, after 10 years of operating, almost 5,000 couples had tied the knot there and it continues to be popular.
