Blackpool building demolished just 48 hours after being gutted by fire

The headquarters of a Blackpool catering business has been demolished just 48 hours after being gutted by fire.

The brick building in Cowley Road, off Vicarage Lane, Marton was ravaged by fire on Monday morning (March 2).

Home to Nationwide Catering Ltd, the building has been demolished this morning after being declared unsafe by fire inspectors.

Fire crews from Preston, Blackpool and the Fylde had remained on watch overnight since the fire began more than 48 hours ago.

"Demolition on the adjacent building is underway...no messing around when workers livelihoods and the local economy are affected", tweeted the fire service.

Ten fire engines and two aerial ladder units were mobilised after a fire broke out at the industrial unit in Marton at 7.30am on Monday.

But crews were unable to prevent the blaze spreading to the building next door, home to Blackpool rock manufacturer Rainbow Candies.
