Murray Pauline, general manager of Grosvenor Casino Blackpool, said: “Carers Trust is an organisation that is close to the heart of many of our employees and it gives me a great sense of pride to know that collectively we have been able to make such a strong contribution to the charity.”

“Our teams have worked extremely hard throughout the course of the year to run charity fund-raising activities to help us achieve this impressive milestone and, without their dedication and the incredible support from the communities nationwide, such an achievement just wouldn’t have been possible.”

Rank Group formed a partnership with the Carers Trust four years ago.

The money raised will go towards the Rank Cares Grant Funds, which were set up to provide financial support to carers aged 16 and above.

Since 2014 the initiative has helped support more than 8,500 carers, providing them with essential equipment and giving them opportunities to meet other carers in similar situations to themselves.

Stemming from their success they plan to extend the initiative into 2018 with a new target of £2 million being set.

Giles Meyer, chief executive of Carers Trust, said: “We are overwhelmed by the fund-raising efforts of Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo.

“They have gone above and beyond once again and we’re delighted to continue our partnership into 2018.

“The staff’s fund-raising is crucial.”
