Bin fires are putting lives at risk
Firefighters are warning that wheelie bin fires in Fleetwood are putting people's lives at risk.
They say there has been an increase in fires in the area, where bin contents are deliberately set alight.
They said, since the beginning of February, there had been 12 incidents.
They said the main area was around the lower end of Lord Street and Ash Street and around the town centre, and domestic and commercial premises had been targeted.
A statement said: “On the last occasion, the bin had been moved against the rear door of a commercial property and, but for the intervention of fire crews, the business and the people whose livelihoods depended on it could have been in serious difficulty.”
