Former Miss Fylde Coast Jenna Howard said she no longer feels safe after the man hurled a brick through the window of her white Renault Clio and took a bag with the prized crown inside.

The 26-year-old, from St Annes, won the contest in 2013 and is now appealing for help to catch the thief after police have so far failed to make an arrest.

She said: “It sounds ridiculous but the crown means a lot to me. It is just so frustrating.” And her older brother, Radio 1 DJ Danny Howard, is equally unimpressed.

He tweeted police, saying: “So far you’ve been useless.”

He asked officers: “If (there) is CCTV evidence, would you make an arrest?”

Following the incident, at around 1.30am on December 23, Jenna took it upon herself to get CCTV footage taken at a nearby Aldi store, showing the man who broke into her car where it was parked on St George’s Road.

She said: “I have lost a memento of my achievements for the work I put into the community, something that is really sentimental to myself.

“It just doesn’t seem fair that this man hasn’t been reprimanded.”

Police have confirmed they are investigating but have yet to arrest anyone.

Jenna added: “I feel so disappointed and let down. Knowing he is still out there, not only makes me feel unsafe in my own home – he was seen on CCTV trying to gain access to my building – but also frustrated that he could, and most probably will, do this to other people.”

She said it was a ‘long-shot’ but hoped Gazette readers might have extra information that could help bring the man to justice – and reunite her with the crown.

She was named Miss Fylde Coast two years ago on the back of her fund-raising work in the community.

Brother Danny also landed his spot on the radio after winning a competition in 2011 to DJ at one of the top Ibiza nightspots.

Lancashire Police said a brick was found inside the car and the offender stole a ‘gold coloured box that had a jewelled crown inside’ before making off undetected.

A spokesman added: “Investigations are continuing into a theft from a vehicle in St Georges Lane, St Annes.”
