Bank Holiday’s cool breezes and showers

The Fylde is set to escape the worst of the bad weather that’s heading to the UK – weather warnings have been issued for the south and east of England – but you’ll need to wrap up.

A band of rain that was set to move in across the area in the early hours was forecast to clear away.

The Met Office said in the North West after a dry first part of last night, with some clear spells for northern areas, cloud and outbreaks of rain were due to edge northwards to reach most areas by dawn today, except perhaps the far north, with a minimum temperature of 10C.

Today is forecast to be a cloudy and damp morning for many, then become drier and brighter from the north west during the day, but with the risk of scattered thundery showers. There will be cool northerly breezes and a maximum temperature of 18C.

It could be worse – people in the east of England and London and the south east are warned of thundery downpours. There is a chance that some places could see 20 to 25mm of rain in an hour and perhaps 40mm in a few hours.
