Tony Codling, 52, from Layton, is spending four hours every day running, cycling, and swimming to prepare for the ‘Ironman’ challenge in September, which will see him swim 1.1 miles, run 55 miles and cycle 13.1 miles in succession.

He hopes to raise at least £1,000 to help Blackpool Carer’s Trust carry out repairs at Blenheim House on Newton Drive.

Mr Codling, who gets extra training through his work as a fitness instructor, said: “I decided to raise the money for Blackpool Carers Trust because my daughter is a keen fundraiser and is passionate about getting the house set up. I’m hoping to help contribute because it was left in a terrible state.”

This will be the second time Mr Codling has cycled for charity after raising more than £3,500 to fund life-changing surgery for Bispham boy Joe Knowles in 2013.

Mr Codling said: “This will be the longest and most challenging triathlon I’ve ever done, but I’m confident I’ll complete it.”
