The April Fool’s Day event took place at the hospital on Whinney Heys Road yesterday and aimed to bring awareness to the dangers of accidental falls.

The event was organised in support of the national campaign Sign Up To Safety, which encourages people to create a movement to improve safety in care, reduce the risk of preventable harm and, ultimately, to save
lives.

Staff gave out information to visitors on how to prevent risk of falls at home and in the workplace, and pledged to become ‘falls champions’ and reduce the number of falls at the service through proactive education and assessments.

The charity event raised £190 for the Blue Skies Hospital Fund, which works to improve the care of Blackpool Victoria patients, by selling cakes and biscuits on the fund-raising stall.
