Appeal after thief crashes Blackpool firm’s van

A Blackpool firm is appealing for witnesses after a teenager attempted to steal a van and ended up damaging it.

The van was stolen from entertainments firm Blackpool Bounce while they were parked on St Albans RC Church field off Kilnhouse Lane, St Annes.

While staff at the bouncy castle business packed away equipment at 7.45pm on Sunday, the teen jumped into the van and drove off.

But he soon crashed into nearby trees and ran off towards Tescos further down Kilnhouse Lane shouting “sorry” at pursuing Blackpool Bounce staff.

The teenager had a short, blond, back and sides haircut and was wearing a black tracksuit top with grey tracksuit bottoms.

A spokesman for Blackpool Bounce said: “Luckily we’ve a great team here, and the situation could have been a lot worse.

“We’d really appreciate it if anyonce can help catch the person responsible by contacting the police.”

The firm believes damage to the van and the cost of hiring a replacement vehicle could top £2,000 and are offering a reward for information leading to conviction of the culprit.
