Appeal after man seriously hurt in Blackpool collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Blackpool.

Officers were called around 8am on Sunday (May 13) to reports of an incident at the junction of Woburn Road and Sherbourne Road.

A Nissan Qashqai car was being reversed when the vehicle is believed to have collided with a 32-year-old man, pushing him against a wall.

The pedestrian suffered a number of hip fractures and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The Nissan was then involved in a collision with a Ford Transit van.

The driver, a 32-year-old woman, was later arrested by officers.

Sgt Dave Hurst, of Lancashire Police, said: “An investigation is underway after a man suffered serious injuries following a collision in Blackpool.

“While we have arrested a woman, we are particularly keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone who might have information which can assist our enquiries.”

A 32-year-old woman from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, failing to stop and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
