Ankle break did not spoil big day

Laura Reynolds and Mark Schofield had the most incredible day when they tied the knot on June 6, but unfortunately it ended with a trip to A&E when Laura broke her ankle.

But despite the accident, the couple, who tied the knot at All Hallow’s Church, say it was the most amazing day of their lives.

They met whilst they were both working for Mark One Print but romance held off until later when Laura had left.

Reunited and now working for HDL, Mark and Laura often don’t see each other during the day, but their dynamic works in and out of the workplace.

Expecting Mark to propose on their holiday to Mexico later that year, eight years after they had started dating, Mark surprised Laura by getting down on one knee at Malmaison Hotel in Manchester.

Laura, 29 who’s from Blackpool, said: “Mark had planned to propose whilst in Mexico but because everyone was expecting him to do it, he said it kind of took the shine and the edge off his idea, so he decided to do it sooner.”

Bartle Hall was the setting for their wedding reception whilst Ellie Sax, her husband Laser Boy Wonder and Howard Wing provided the musical entertainment.

Laura said: “If you are looking for a party atmosphere, you must hire Howard Wing with Ellie and Harry as everyone has not stopped commenting on how fantastic they were!”

The party atmosphere continued into the night and in the early hours of the morning, Laura slipped on the back on the back of her dress and fell.

She said: “I was dancing around, having the time of my life, when around 12.45am, I slipped on the back of my dress and fell on the floor! “Everyone rushed to help me up but I had to sit out the last dance as it was too sore to stand up again.”

“Unfortunately, within 40 minutes of arriving at A&E, the nurse confirmed that I had in fact broken my ankle in three different places and would not be allowed to travel for two to three months.

“So our dream honeymoon has had to be postponed and we are spending our first few months as a married couple at home in Bispham.”

Despite this being their couples’ retreat for now, their ideal honeymoon remains postponed and in sight: three nights at The Venetian in Las Vegas and ten Nights at Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico.

Neither Mark, who is 36, nor Laura regretted any part of the day though.

Mark said: “It was the best day of my life, marrying my best friend. I’ve never been happier, despite the little mishap, it will just make us stronger.”
