Adam's stroke of talent is spotted

Adam’s work has been chosen to appear in this year’s Annual Exhibition of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI).

The ROI is the only national art society devoted exclusively to oil painting.

Adam, who is originally from Kirkham but now lives in Norbreck, said: “There were over 1,700 entries with just over 100 selected, and three of them were mine!

“I’m so pleased to have had not just one painting selected, but three!”

Adam, 45, paints using oils and normally spends about three hours working outdoors, painting on location.

He did a two year art foundation course at Blackpool and The Fylde College, aged 18, before completing a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art at Canterbury.

He then worked as a scenic artist in Europe before concentrating on his own art in 2013.

The ROI annual exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to see the many and varied ways in which artists use oil paint today, from a traditional approach to this highly technical media through to more innovative uses of material, style and content.

The Institute’s annual exhibition will be on display at Mall Galleries, London, from November 30 to December 11.

Founded in 1882, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters chooses the very best submissions in oil-based media from national and international submissions.

Offering prizes such as The Phyllis Roberts Award and The Winsor and Newton Young Artist Awards, the ROI continues to lay the foundations for future generations to enjoy and achieve artistic expression with this most adaptable and durable medium.
