Ansdell In Bloom volunteers have been hard at work brightening up the village with colourful floral displays, including a transformed speedboat installation, as the community prepares to welcome judges for this year’s In Bloom competitions.
The boat, which was originally bought via Facebook Marketplace by Ansdell In Bloom chairman Alan Roe three years ago, has been transformed into a bright floral display at the corner of Blackpool Road and Woodlands Road.
Once a simple planting feature pointing visitors towards village shops, it has now been repainted and enhanced with new planters, a lighthouse decoration and a bench supplied by Lytham Community Workshop.
With Ansdell In Bloom shortlisted for both Britain in Bloom and North West In Bloom, volunteers felt the corner needed a refreshed look ahead of judging days on July 10 and August 4.
Alan said the team was “delighted” with the result, adding that the once drab spot is now a far more welcoming part of the village.
