1,700 to take part in Blackpool Colour Run on July 19 for Trinty Hospice - here's everything you need to know

Blackpool Colour Run will return to Starr Gate Beach on Saturday, promising a high-energy, family-friendly fundraising event where participants are showered in clouds of bright powdered paint as they complete a 3km course along the sand.

More than 1,700 people from across the Fylde coast have signed up to take part in Blackpool Colour Run this weekend.

Blackpool Colour Run will return to Starr Gate Beach on Saturday, promising a high-energy, family-friendly fundraising event where participants are showered in clouds of bright powdered paint as they complete a 3km course along the sand.

The event is anticipated to raise £50,000 for Trinity Hospice through sponsorship and donations.

Runners will pass through seven coloured powdered paint stations and turn the beach into a rainbow of colour.

Organised by Trinity Hospice, the event has become a staple in the town’s summer calendar, attracting participants of all ages and fitness levels.

Rather than a traditional competitive race, the Colour Run focuses on fun, community spirit and fundraising, with runners, joggers, walkers and even dancers encouraged to take part at their own pace.

Starting at 11am, the course takes participants through a lively beach setting featuring multiple colour stations where volunteers launch bursts of coloured powder into the air, transforming participants into walking rainbows by the finish line.

The event typically runs until around 2pm with entertainment, music and a festival-style atmosphere building before and after the run.

The fun starts at 10am as participants arrive for all the build up fun.

Each entry includes a participant pack featuring a pouch of coloured powder, a race number and a commemorative medal with additional paint available to buy on the day for those who want to ramp up the colour.

The event is open to all ages, making it a popular choice for families, schools, workplaces and community groups looking for a shared challenge that prioritises enjoyment over speed or competition.

All participants will receive an exclusive Blackpool Colour Run medal – a perfect keepsake from an amazing day.

Beyond the colour and celebration, the event has a serious purpose. Funds raised through entry fees and sponsorship go directly towards supporting Trinity Hospice and its services for patients and families across the region.

Organisers encourage participants to raise sponsorship alongside their entry, helping to fund specialist palliative and bereavement care provided by the charity.

The Blackpool Colour Run 2026 is expected to once again draw large crowds to the promenade turning the beach into a moving canvas of colour.
