The event, which started at The Sandcastle on South Promenade, was the fifth annual Santa Dash for Trinity Hospice, which is marking its 30th anniversary this year.

The popular charity dash is one of Trinity’s biggest events of the year and sees entire families, including toddlers and beloved pets all kitted out in provided Santa suits.

Shirley Morgan, press and communications manager at Trinity Hospice, Low Moor Road, Bispham, said “We aim to make all our events fun but the Santa Dash is definitely the big one, it really marks the start of Christmas.

“It’s not just a race, it’s a great social event with staff getting just as involved with the crowds.”
