Dalmeny Resort Hotel welcoming locals with live music

The Dalmeny Resort Hotel was originally opened as a small guest house in 1946 by Reg & Hilda Webb. Over the last 70 years it has grown, and is now a 100-bedroom resort hotel. The hotel marked its 70th anniversary in 2016 and is still owned by the Webb family.

Like most hotels in the UK however, it has found the last year to be among the most challenging in living memory. And after such a difficult year they are planning to welcome the return of customers in style, with a live music night celebrating the reopening of their outdoor bar.

Special event on April 16

They are encouraging locals to come along and see what they have to offer. This Friday (April 16) they will be holding a Night with Tony Benedict and Friends, allowing people to shake off the shackles of lockdown and get back to some degree of normality by getting out for some fine food, a drink and entertainment.

The hotel may have been mostly closed during lockdown, but they have not been idle, remaining open for customers needing long term isolation, as well as essential business travel and emergency use.

And to ensure their 70 dedicated staff were kept busy they have refurbished rooms, and launched an Italian Kitchen Takeaway, which proved incredibly popular with people.

“It has been a very stressful time but with the vaccine and the start of lockdown restrictions ending we are very positive about the rest of the year, and we’re hoping people will come along and enjoy some good food and entertainment at the outdoor bar when we reopen,” says manager Heather Thompson.

Italian Kitchen

“We had great feedback for the Italian Kitchen takeaway we launched which a lot of people have enjoyed, and we feel very fortunate to have an outdoor space that we can use to help people get out and let their hair down a bit after such a difficult time.”

Guests at the bar will be able to order takeaway food for their table, while new head chef Chris Smith is using his 26 years of experience to create a new menu for the full reopening of the hotel and restaurant in May.

The resort hotel is the perfect destination for staycation, with the beautiful seaside setting an ideal base for exploring the wonderful Fylde Coast, as well as being just a short hop from Blackpool.

For families they have a children’s arcade, a director of fun for their Kidszone and even a small children’s cinema.

Thanks to the easing of lockdown rules they have already been able to gym with a fitness studio and squash court, and are getting ready to reopen their health club, which has a large swimming pool, dry heat sauna, eucalyptus steam room, Whirlpool spa and children’s splash pool.

And despite all the challenges they are preparing for a busy time, with plenty of people already booking a stay for later in the year.

“People have obviously been following the government advice, so whenever there has been an announcement about reopening we have seen a surge in bookings – there were times when we’ve taken so many bookings in a day that the website has crashed,” says Heather.

“It’s very encouraging. We are a UK destination and in a perfect spot for people looking for a great staycation, so when we open in May we’ll be very busy.”
