Fleetwood Carnival cancelled over coronavirus
The summer spectacle was due to take place on Saturday June 20 and a great deal of preparation had already gone into it.
Coordinators made an early start to their plans and chose the 2020 carnival queen and retinue back In November, with 10 year old Mia Johnson due to be crowned in the summer.

Hide AdBut the Government’s crackdown on large gatherings in the wake of the health crisis has led to the Fleetwood Carnival Committee calling their event off.
Carnival chairman Cheryl Walkington said in a statement: “After careful consideration the committee has decided that the event needs to be cancelled due the impact of the coronavirus.
“Thanks for the wonderful support this year and we look forward to our event in 2021.
“We would love to retain the same retinue for next year if possible.

“It is also sad that we have also decided to cancel the Queens ‘At Home’ event.”
Fleetwood Carnival has a long history, having been running for almost 120 years
