The residents of Birch Way say the coronavirus pandemic – and the lockdown measures experienced since March – has brought them together and they have become a much closer-knit community.

They held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan, which raised £451.

Sam Mcwhinnie said: “The coffee morning was held outdoors and the Birch Way residents baked cakes, potted plants, and made cards, as well as serving tea and coffee to raise funds for

the charity.

“Since lockdown in March the residents have become a much closer-knit community and now regard each other as friends rather than just neighbours.

“The residents set a target of £100 for this fundraiser and were bowled over when the target was smashed and to date have raised £451.

“I am really proud of our small community and what they have achieved in raising money for this charity.

“I cannot thank them enough for all their efforts in allowing this event to go ahead.”
