Blackpool synagogue back up for auction

The synagogue in Leamington Road which is to be auctioned next month. It was up for sale last year and auctioned in 2012.

The grade II listed former synagogue in Leamington Road will go under the hammer on September 6.

Built in 1916, the Blackpool United Hebrew Synagogue was deconsecrated and closed in 2012.

Despite objections from the council due to the building’s architectural significance, planning consent was eventually granted on appeal last year to convert part of it into five two-bedroomed flats, with car parking.

The synagogue in Leamington Road which is to be auctioned next month.

Noted for its beautiful stained glass windows, it was bought by Thompson Property Investments in 2012 and has been offered for sale several times.

It will feature among over 90 lots in Pugh’s next North West property auction, which will be held at Manchester’s AJ Bell Stadium.
