Kat Buck, from Bispham, is embarking on a new career as a self employed Slimming World consultant – and after losing five stone herself, she’s certainly got the experience to help others

to achieve their lifestyle goals.

Following years of fluctuating weight issues and undergoing surgery to remove cysts caused by endometriosis, the 31-year-old said her confidence had plummeted.

And when she became a mum to precious twins, Riley and Eleanor, looking after herself and making healthy meals slipped down the priority list.

She said: “After leaving a very active job as an entertainer on a holiday park to start a family, I suddenly found myself becoming bigger than I had ever been.

“I suffered with endometriosis and needed surgery to have cysts removed.

“After being told I may never be able to have children, I was blessed to have not one, but two babies.

“My twins are my world and I wanted to be the best mum I could be, especially since I wasn’t sure if I would ever be one.

“Being a mum of twin babies was tough and I found myself having zero motivation to cook proper meals and usually took the easy option of a takeaway or eating out.”

Kat says the catalyst for change came one night while working at a gig.

She said: “When I was young and beginning to worry about my weight a friend once said to me ‘you wouldn’t be you, if you weren’t fat.’

“This was the beginning of years of fluctuating weight issues in which I never truly felt happy.

“One night I turned up at a gig, put my banner up that has a picture of me pre-pregnancy and a man said I didn’t look like my picture.

“This made me feel so self-conscious and my confidence plummeted, I found I was even turning down gigs as I didn’t want to don a sparkly dress and dance around singing to people

because I felt as though they would be judging me.

“I decided to make it my mission not to be the ‘fat friend’ anymore and thought I would give Slimming World a go.

“As I walked into the group I was shaking and in tears but the support I felt really confirmed to me that I was doing the right thing.

“I first joined Slimming World in January 2019 and it took me 12 months to lose the five stone which I have maintained since then.

“With every pound I lost, I gained another piece of my confidence back!”

It’s this new found belief in herself that has given Kat the confidence to help others in the same way she was helped herself.

She is relaunching the morning group that meets at Fleetwood Methodist Church on Fleetwood Road every Wednesday.

Kat also runs an established Anchorsholme Slimming World group that meets every Thursday evening at All Saints Church on Valeway Avenue.

She added: “When we entered lockdown and began shielding my family, I lost every income in one fell swoop. Now I’m coming out of lockdown with a brand new job role and I couldn’t be

more excited. The icing on the cake is that I am re-launching the very group that I attended as a member!”
