They combined their skills to produce a publication which included poems, recipes and quizzes. They made face masks and marmalade and took donations instead of Christmas cards.

They also raised money from the sale of a blanket knitted in squares by their crafty members.

Brenda said: “I chose Rainbow Hub as my charity of the year because my friend, who works as a volunteer there, told me about it and invited me to go and visit the centre before

lockdown.

“I was not only impressed by the fantastic facilities in the centre itself but also by the lovely garden and outdoor areas as well.

“I will never forget the happy faces of the children I met and the laughter I heard.

“It was really mind-blowing and the help and consideration they give to the parents make Rainbow Hub an unbelievably special place.”

Lyndsay Fahey, chief executive at Rainbow Hub, which is based in Mawdesley, said: “Their efforts are amazing and we are so grateful to Brenda and the ladies.

“I was able to join their annual general meeting via Zoom to thank them but we are so looking forward to their visit when the restrictions are lifted so that we can thank them in person.
