Karate kids kicked into action at a regular session for martial arts fanatics in Chorley. The sessions at Eaves Green Community Centre in Chorley are proving a big hit with growing numbers attracted to the sport. Parents are furious that a lollipop patrol guiding school children across a busy Preston road is to be axed. Hundreds of children are safely helped across the junction of Tulketh Brow and Waterloo Road under the watchful eye of lollipop lady Mrs Wendy Proctor. A South Ribble school's hockey team is the tops after thrashing the opposition in a seven-a-side competition. The under-13 team from Penwortham Priory High took part in the Preston and District Tournament and won the final against Garstang High School, 3-0. Preston youngsters sowed the seeds of their environmental project when they planted 60 trees in the school grounds. Parents of pupils at Sherwood Primary School, Preston, donated most of the trees to the project and helped out with the official planting ceremony
