A group of Chernobyl children enjoyed their first-ever game of football while on a special visit to Lancashire. Boys and girls from Belorussia have been brought over to stay with families for a holiday by a local charity. They were challenged to a fun football match by the Kirkham under 11s team and played on Turbary Rangers' pitch at Trebaron Garden Centre in Whitestake, near Preston. Waldemar Piorkowski is weighing up his chances of capturing a prestigious title in Canada next summer. The 42-year-old from Hambleton, near Blackpool, retained his Prison Officers' under 70 kilos weight lifting and under 70 kilos power lifting crowns in Birmingham.
