Victoria Hospital chairman to join new trust

Ian Johnson, the chairman at the NHS trust that runs Blackpool Victoria Hospital, is to step aside to become chairman of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust.

Mr Johnson is understood to live closer to his new role, which he will assume in March or April. No replacement has been announced.

He said: “I can honestly say that it has been a privilege to serve as chairman of a forward-looking trust which has placed patient care at the very centre of its focus.”

Mr Johnson took over as chairman in April 2012, and was said by the trust to have ‘overseen many significant achievements’, with the transfer of community services and the building of the hospital’s new main entrance and car park cited.
