From Wheelchair to Wellness: Mother and Daughter Slimming Stars Inspire in UK’s Best-Selling Magazine

Nat Meadows, new District Development Manager for Central Scotland, shares her remarkable transformation alongside daughter Lucia Walsh A mother and daughter from Blackpool are celebrating a life-changing milestone — being featured in the UK’s best-selling slimming publication, Slimming World Magazine.

Nat Meadows, 45, who now works in Scotland as the new District Development Manager for Slimming World, has undergone a dramatic transformation since joining her local group in November 2015. She’s gone from 14st 6.5lbs to 10st 2.5lbs — but the numbers only tell part of the story.

At her lowest point, Nat’s weight had such a severe impact on her health that she relied on a wheelchair and full-time care from her daughter Lucia and other family members. “I was in constant pain, unable to walk unaided, and completely dependent on others,” she says. “It was a heartbreaking time for all of us.”

Determined to reclaim her life, Nat joined her local Slimming World group in Blackpool. “I was nervous, but the warmth and support I received was overwhelming. It gave me hope when I had very little.”

Alongside following Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan, Nat was also part of a pioneering trial treatment that, combined with her weight loss, helped her regain mobility and independence. “It’s not an exaggeration to say I have a new life. I can walk again, I’m active, and I feel like myself for the first time in years.”

Lucia, inspired by her mum’s courage and success, joined Slimming World too and has achieved her own incredible transformation. The pair now proudly share their story in the latest issue of Slimming World Magazine.

“I used to dread shopping and hated having my photo taken,” Nat says. “Now I’ve got a colourful new wardrobe and I felt so confident during the photoshoot — it was surreal and emotional.”

Although Nat doesn’t run groups herself, she now supports local Consultants and Managers across Central Scotland in her role as District Development Manager. “Helping others change their lives the way I’ve changed mine is the most rewarding part of my job.”

The latest issue of Slimming World Magazine, featuring Nat and Lucia’s story, is available in stores now.
