More emergency supplies of PEE arrive in Lancashire and they're headed to care workers

The Lancashire Resilience Forum (LRF) took delivery on Friday of a substantial supply of equipment including aprons, gloves, masks and eye protection from central government.

The LRF said the supplies were being handed out to "areas of greatest need" - such as adult social care providers including nursing and care homes.

Local councils will be coordinating the deliveries.

Kieran Keane, chief executive of Lancaster City Council, who is responsible for overseeing logistics within the LRF, said: "These supplies will support those working in social care to stay safe as they work tirelessly to help some of Lancashire’s most vulnerable residents during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Obtaining PPE is challenging at the moment due to unprecedented demand across the country. This emergency supply will go some way to ease the pressures being felt by public services until a more robust supply line is established.

“All partners within the LRF are working together to monitor existing and anticipated PPE levels on a daily basis, to ensure sufficient supplies are distributed to those most in need.”

The delivery was the second part of a national drop-off from central government after an initial supply was received on Tuesday.
