Another Blackpool school sends pupils home 'after positive Covid-19 tests'

Another Blackpool school has sent pupils home after two of their classmates reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.

St John Vianney Catholic Primary School, in Glastonbury Avenue, acted on the advice of the council, headteacher Dr Elaine Allen said.

In a letter to affected parents in Year One, dated yesterday, she said a "child has tested positive for Covid-19 in your child's class".

She said: "This means that as advised by the local authority we will be closing the class bubble and your child will therefore need to self-isolate for 14 days.

"Your child does not need to get a Covid-19 test unless they develop symptoms and members of your household are not required to self-isolate.

"Any siblings in school in other classes do not need to self-isolate and are fine to attend school unless they develop symptoms.

"Home learning will begin on Monday so you will be required to log onto Microsoft Teams to find your child's work and the class teacher will be in contact via email."

One parent said a total of two children had tested positive at the school, while some youngsters from Year Four have also been sent home.
