Blackpool Pleasure Beach 'intends to remain open' amid coronavirus pandemic

Officials at Blackpool Pleasure Beach have confirmed that the park will stay open amid the Covid-19 pandemic but the decision "will be constantly reviewed".

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has taken the decision to remain open during the Covid-19 pandemic, but officials have reassured guests that they will "always act in accordance with government and health authority guidelines."

The park stated they have made a number of changes to improve and enhance their cleaning and sanitisation routine to provide added protection for everyone on site.

Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 has been asked to postpone their visit.

A spokesperson for Blackpool Pleasure Beach said: "We understand that these are difficult times for everyone but as long as government and health authority guidelines allow, we will remain open.

"We are constantly monitoring the situation and will always follow the government and health authority recommendations and guidance."

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a 42-acre open-air attraction situated on the beachfront.

The park is currently working on plans to ensure that everyone on site maintains space and social distance.

This will be in addition to enhanced cleaning regimes and the increased availability of hand sanitiser.

Precautions which we have already implemented at Blackpool Pleasure Beach include:

- Enhanced cleaning on rides – both prior to, during and after daily operations. High traffic areas such as ride queue lines are regularly sanitised.

- Hand sanitisers being available in all toilets across the park. Guests will also be asked to wash their hands on a regular basis.

- Staff will wash their hands on a regular basis. Hand sanitisers will be available to all staff.

- Ride operations will be paused on a regular basis throughout the day to clean down and sanitise touchpoint areas such as ride restraints and ride vehicles.

- The park will be maintaining space between guests in a number of high-density areas such as selected queue lines.

- Guest with pre-booked visits will be able to reschedule their trip.

The park is currently open every weekend until March 29 from 11am - 5pm for WOW Weekends.

The main season for Blackpool Pleasure Beach starts on April 1.
