Tide is turning for Fleetwood primary school as open evening dates are announced

A Fleetwood school is welcoming prospective pupils to two open evenings next month to showcase what they have to offer.

St Wulstan’s and St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School has had a difficult few years but the tide is turning.

The format will be different to the usual open evenings, because of the Covid-19 restrictions, and parents will need to phone school to book a viewing.

Headteacher Jane Barnes said: “We are excited to meet all the prospective new pupils and their parents and look forward to sharing with them the many opportunities that await them.”

After a turbulent few years the school has achieved a new stability and the new head is providing strong leadership.

St Wulstan’s is now rated ‘Good’ for Early Years Provision, behaviour and attitudes and personal development.

“We are pleased that improvements across the school have been recognised by inspectors at our latest OFSTED insepction in February.”

“Whilst we recognise that there are further improvements to be made, it is good that inspectors recognise and value the progress we have made so far.

“The school certainly has a positive vibe about it and this is reflected in comments from the report.”

Inspectors found that pupils were polite and they behave well in lessons so everyone can learn. They also reported that pupil’s enjoy school life, they feel safe and were enthusiastic learners.

The open evenings are Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 14, 5pm-6.30pm. Parents need to phone school to book a viewing 01253 874785. Reception places for 2021 need to be applied for online by January 15
