Eleven A level photography students from Blackpool Sixth Form College have had their work selected to be part of the Lancashire Photography Festival.
The festival celebrates the best photographic work from across the county and will take place across Preston city centre this year.
It is completely free to the public and open-air so the festival can go ahead at a time of COVID restrictions.
"The fact the exhibition is all outside is exciting in itself because it means people can go out and appreciate the art whilst everything else is closed," said Garry Cook, organiser of the inaugural festival, "That has been the driving factor behind this project."
The students’ work will be shown alongside snaps by many professional and amateur photographers in key locations around the city.
A special space will be dedicated to the students' photographs at The Larder Cafe, 50 Lancaster Road, next to Preston Guild Hall and the Harris Museum.
Festival organiser, lecturer and documentary photographer Garry delivered a photography workshop to the college's A level photography groups at the end of February.
He introduced more than 100 students to photo-journalism and inspired them to tell their personal lockdown stories.
Festival organisers selected their favourites from the work produced, eventually choosing eleven Blackpool Sixth students to be part of the final festival exhibition.
"It is brilliant to showcase the work of renowned artists and people with no experience in photography and allow people in the city to see these up close," Garry told The Post.
"People have produced great work off the back of workshops I ran.
"There were around 30 documentary projects created, with most of them focusing on life in lockdown."
The photographs are the only ones taken by college students in the county to be featured in the exhibition.
Students with work included in the exhibition are: Sarah Loveland, Katie Miller, Brady Murray, Lucy Rowe, Sammy Hall, Serena Jagger, Kate Burslam, Niamh Keane, Amelia Furner, Emily Mellow, and Abbie Lund.
The festival began on Friday April 2 and will be on display to the public until Sunday May 23.
