Around 30 teachers and other staff members at Holy Family RC Primary School in Warton came together to do the Jerusalama - a dance which originated in Africa and has been sweeping the world via video.

With the vast majority of the school's 129 pupils - and most staff - working remotely this term, headteacher Michelle Holden has been determined to do all she can to ensure the well being of the youngsters and their parents is maintained.

When teaching assistant Angela Spence suggested the idea of the staff dance video, Mrs Holden thought it would provide the perfect 'spirit-lifting' message for half-term and the staff came together after school, socially-distanced of course, to shoot the fun four-minute sequence.

Governor John Hardman, a photographer and videographer, did the filming, while the school's lead IT teacher Emma Barnes edited it all together.

"We have always prided ourselves on one being school family and it is vital in these unprecedented times to ensure everyone still feels part of that family although we can't be together physically," said Mrs Holden.

"It is important to keep all the youngsters and their families feeling engaged and enthusiastic and hopefully this will provide an extra lift as we go into the half-term break.

"Everyone has been working very hard and can be very proud of their efforts, but it's not all about work - it's important to have fun too and that's the aim of this video.

"We all really enjoyed doing it and we hope the children and their families enjoy watching it. "

Jerusalama is a song by South African house musician Master KG. Friends in Angola filmed themselves dancing to the hit - and the moves have since been recreated the world over.
