Pupils sent home from Poulton high school after positive coronavirus case confirmed

A positive case of coronavirus at a Poulton high school has resulted in some children being asked to self-isolate.

Hodgson Academy on Moorland Road confirmed a positive case of coronavirus in the school on Thursday (September 17).

A number of pupils were told to self-isolate until Tuesday September 29.

The affected children are believed to be part of a Year seven bubble.

Iain Siddall, headteacher at Hodgson Academy, said: "There has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.

"We have carried out a full risk assessment and identified all those who have been in close contact with the affected case and have asked that they stay at home and self-isolate until 14 days after their last contact."

The school declined to comment about any coronavirus cases when contacted by the Gazette.
