Positive coronavirus case confirmed at Thornton school

A high school in Thornton told parents in a letter home today that a pupil had tested positive for Covid-19.

A pupil in Year 10 at Millfield Science and Performing Arts College on Belvedere Road had tested positive for the virus, headteacher Nicola Regan confirmed today (November 13).

Mrs Regan said: "We have been notified this morning that a pupil in year 10 has tested positive for Covid-19.

"We have followed the national guidance. We have carried out a full risk assessment and we are going to close the Year 10 bubble group."

Pupils in the affected pupil's bubble group were asked to self-isolate until they are able to return to school on Thursday November 26.
