Positive case of coronavirus confirmed at Poulton high school

A high school in Poulton informed parents that a positive case of coronavrius was confirmed this morning.

Baines School on Highcross Road confirmed in a message this morning (October 12) that a year 9 pupil had tested positive for Covid-19.

The school advised parents that all year 9 pupils would be kept in their "bubble base rooms" today, until it was safe to send them home.

Addressing year 9 parents, a school spokesman said: "We have unfortunately learned this morning of a positive Covid test result from a student in Year 9.

"We will look after all Year 9 students who have come in to school today in their bubble base rooms until we know that it is safe for them to return home.

"If we identify that your child must self-isolate (following guidance from Public Health England) we will be in touch with you today.

"If we do not make contact with you, your child should return to school as normal tomorrow morning."
