Kind hearted Blackpool students feed the homeless

Students from Blackpool and Fylde College showcased their public services skills by helping the town's needy.

Working in groups, they collected food and clothes for Blackpool homeless charity Streetlife.

Teams led by Yasmin Brett, Liv Leek, JC Campbell, Charlie Douglas and Kieran Smith were all set the charity challenge as part of their studies and it resulted in them amassing the much-needed donations for the resort's homeless as temperatures start to drop.

Public Services course tutor Glenn Richards said that not only had the task reaped much-needed rewards but provided the public service students with a chance to develop their communication, initiative, team bonding and leadership skills.

He added: "Students made a really big effort to pull together a huge haul of food and clothing that will help many people during the coming weeks.

"It's been so successful that we're planning on rolling out this effort for a bumper donation drive across the college closer to Christmas."
