The branch, in St David’s Road North, St Annes, has been given a price tag of £130,000 and described as a ‘thriving and lucrative’ firm.

“The postmaster at [this] St Annes Post Office has expressed an interest in leaving and is selling their business as a going concern,” a Post Office spokesman said in a statement.

“When a new owner is found they can apply to become a postmaster.

“This is part of natural churn in the Post Office network and we remain committed to maintaining a service to local customers.”

Being sold with ‘self-contained two bedroom accommodation’, the branch is said to offer a salary of £61,334 plus weekly takings of around £525.

The branch was long previously based at Fleet Street corner before switching several hundred yards to premises on the other side of the junction with St Leonard’s Road.

Earlier this month, customers at Mereside Post Office, in Langdale Place, arrived to find the shutters down and a sign, dated Monday, August 14, saying, ‘Closed until further notice’.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure ... due to unforeseen circumstances,” a Post Office spokesman said at the time.

The store reopened shortly after, The Gazette understands.
