New £1m gym is ‘best in the world’

An Olympic silver medallist has opened a new £1m gym at a Fylde coast health club.

Retired athlete Roger Black MBE cut the ribbon as Ribby Hall Village, in Wrea Green, unveiled its new top-of-the-range facility.

The health club now boasts “world-class” equipment after being kitted out with what are claimed to be the world’s most advanced cardiovascular machines.

The Technogym machines are fitted with UNITY, a state-of-the-art swipe screen cardio console that allows users to surf the internet while working out.

Mr Black told the 180 people gathered for Monday’s launch event: “You have world class facilities with the best gym equipment in the world.”

Mark Leech, senior manager of sport and leisure at Ribby Hall Village, said: “At Ribby Hall Village we pride ourselves on design excellence and quality in our offering to all our members.

“In response to our growing membership numbers, it’s important we offer only the latest and greatest of gym equipment.
