The Lindum Hotel at St Annes has been sold for an undisclosed sum to the The Inn Collection Group, which specialises in high-quality pubs with rooms.

The purchase takes the group's portfolio to 16 properties across the north of England, including The Swan at Grasmere and The Pheasant at Bassenthwaite, both in the Lake District.

The Lindum, with 88 rooms, had been owned for just under three years by the Hy Hotels group, which acquired it in late 2017 from previous long-time operators the Rowley family.

Previous owner Dan Yates of Hy Hotels said: “We have been very lucky to have worked in such a stunning seaside location and have thoroughly enjoyed operating the hotel and watching it grow over the years.

"Special thanks to Tom O’Malley at property advisors Christie & Co who was highly professional and has managed to achieve a swift and confidential sale for us during such an uncertain time.

"We are very pleased to be passing the business over to such an experienced operator who can take the hotel to the next level and benefit tourism within the local area.”

The Inn Collection Group says the acquisition will allow it to continue to roll out its ‘buy and build’ strategic growth plans of high-quality pubs with rooms.

Managing director Sean Donkin said: “The Lindum Hotel has in buckets and spades, everything we look for in an Inn Collection Group venue - vibrant, multifaceted destinations, a wow factor element and somewhere we would like to eat, drink, sleep and explore from with our own families and friends.

“Despite the challenges Covid-19 continues to throw at the sector, 2020 continues to be a year of growth for our group.

"As well as mounting up our operations in the Lake District and Yorkshire, the purchase of The Lindum Hotel will see us expand our offering across the border into Lancashire.”

Tom O’Malley, senior business agent in Christie & Co’s hospitality team brokered the sale and said: “I’m delighted to complete on another deal with The Inn Collection Group and strengthen Christie & Co’s great partnership with the group.

"This is my second deal personally this year, as they purchased The Churchill Inn in Ambleside through me in August and they also bought The Black Swan at Helmsley through Christie & Co earlier in the year.

"The main appeal in this site was the prominent seafront location on the promenade in St Annes. I look forward to seeing the group's plans come to life over the coming months.”
