Fylde Council has given the go-ahead for 22 houses and six apartments with associated car parking and landscaping to be built on land south of Bowden Lane.

The proposals were submitted to the council by the Great Places Housing Group, a housing provider with 19,000 homes in the North West, and promised to bring 'much needed affordable housing' to the area.

A planning statement given to the Council said: "The application site is a highly suitable and sustainable location for new affordable housing and the proposed scheme is fully tailored to meeting identified local needs, and will make a valuable contribution to the delivery of affordable housing in Fylde.

"It will create a high quality, well-connected and accessible development that will deliver important long term economic, social and environmental benefits."

The development will consist of eight two-bedroom houses, six three-bedroom houses, and two four-bedroom houses for shared ownership, and six two-bedroom houses and six one-bedroom flats for affordable rent.

The proposed development is in accordance with the adopted Fylde Local Plan to 2032 and the St Annes Neighbourhood Plan 2016 to 2031, and Government policy for affordable housing.
