Help for older enterprise

The two organisations have delivered the first of a series of workshops last Thursday and it was hailed a huge success.

The remaining self-employment workshops will be delivered at The Enterprise Centre in Lytham Road through October and November.

The workshop will be delivered by one of the Prince’s Charities, PRIME, a charity dedicated to supporting over 50s start businesses, and on the days attendees will be able to find out what is involved and whether it is the right option for them, before setting up an enterprise.

Tony Carr, managing director of SES, said: “In addition to the workshops and courses, SES will also be providing one-to-one support, as well as social enterprise training if required, with the support of a team of qualified advisors.

“We have some free places available as all this work is being fully funded by The European Social Fund”

Terry King MBE, PRIME’s Contract Manager for The Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise, said: “Many older people go down the enterprise route because they have no other options in the labour market but we are also seeing more over 50s take-up self-employment for positive life-style reasons.”
