The Fylde Coast Responsible Business Network brings together businesses who want to make a difference in their local community.

Since its launch in October 2018, the network has grown to include almost 60 businesses who are committed to giving back to the area through initiatives such as creating opportunities for young people and supporting the unemployed.

As part of its second anniversary celebrations, the group is launching a series of projects which will build on its success and continue its mission to make a positive change in the community.

These include workshops to share skills and experiences, and a focus on mental health resilience for people who have been made redundant.

Steve Fogg, chairman of the network, said: “It’s about more than a networking group where people connect with each other, it’s about achieving successful outcomes which benefit the area.

“Our vision is for businesses to make a positive change together and we work to a framework with a structure and purpose which makes that happen.”

Steve, who retired earlier this year from his role of Managing Director of Shared Services at BAE Systems, said that growing up on a council estate in Liverpool he could never have imagined pursuing his chosen career, but a visit to his school from someone working in industry, convinced him to follow that path.

Steve said: “If it can work for me as an individual, imagine if you could do that many, many times for the young people of Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.”

The Fylde Coast Responsible Business Network is part of the Blackpool Pride of Place partnership, which promotes the area’s economic development and tackles its social challenges.

Michelle Walker, Project Manager for the network, said the group welcomed representatives from any business sector across the Blackpool and Fylde Coast area.

She said: “Anyone with the pride, passion, drive and ambition to help our communities would be more than welcome to join us.

“The more members and the more ideas we have from the business community, the better for the group and, more importantly the better for the community.”
