Karl Oyston is due to return to the Manchester Employment Tribunal on Wednesday to face his former employers over claims that he is owed money from the time when he was suspended from his position in February 2018.

The case was due to start on Tuesday, following a reading day for the judge to examine the documents from both sides. However, the hearing was then adjourned until Wednesday morning.

At a previous hearing in February this year, Mr Oyston had told Judge David Franey that he wanted reinstating as club chairman. He was also claiming compensation for unpaid bonuses, holiday pay and the removal of a company vehicle.

The claims come from the time when the Oyston family was coming under pressure to quit the club and the Oystons were involved in legal action against some fans.

At the initial hearing in November 2019, the judge voiced concerns about the legality of the way Mr Oyston’s contract of employment was performed over an arrangement relating to child support agency payments and tax.

The Gazette will cover the hearing as it resumes.
