Permission for an extension to the store, on Poulton Road, was granted by Wyre Council in March last year.

Plans showed the store, which is currently closed while the work is done, would be extended by an extra 133 square metres to the front and side

More car parking spaces will also be added.

A spokesman for Aldi said: “The store is now closed for refurbishment and we anticipate construction will be complete this summer.”

In planning documents, architects The Harris Group said: “The proposed approach is to provide an extension to the front and side of the building with an enlarged sales and amenity area, maintaining the existing site entrance and creating some larger car parking spaces.

“The side elevation neighbouring the existing Gee Tee’s unit remains unaffected to reduce the impact on the car park and shop entrance.”
