Driver locked up after early morning crash in Blackpool

An uninsured driver who took a car without consent and crashed it in Blackpool has spent the night in the police cells.

Police took to social media after arresting a driver in the early hours of Saturday morning following a crash in Progress Way.

A spokesman for Lancashire Road Police said the driver had taken the blue Renault without consent and was driving without a licence or insurance.

Pictures taken by officers show the car crashed into a roundabout. There are not thought to be any serious injuries but the driver had the pleasure of spending some time in custody, according to a tweet by officers.

@LancsRoadPolice tweeted: "The driver of this car decided to take it without the owners consent and crash it on Progress Way, B’pool! Also minus a licence and insurance! Cells for one!"
