Double delight at awards ceremony for Blackpool building preservation specialists

Palmer Avenue-based RTC was named Contractor of the Year in the Damp and Timber category for larger businesses by the Property Care Association.

And employee Sam Rossall was named Student of the Year after qualifying as a Certificated Surveyor of Timber and Dampness in Buildings.

Each autumn the PCA presents contractor of the year awards to member businesses based on their annual audits as well as student of the year awards to individuals who undertake training with the association, based on their results.

Established in 1990, RTC specialises in rising damp treatment, basement and structural waterproofing, woodworm, wet and dry rot treatment, condensation and domestic ventilation, cavity wall tie installation, external waterproofing, concrete repairs and flood remediation.

The company, which has celebrated its 30th year in 2020, was previously highly commended at the 2016 PCA Awards for outstanding customer service.

Sam, a qualified damp and timber surveyor, has completed several training programs since joining in 2016, starting as an apprentice, completing an NVQ Level II and now Certificated Surveyor of Timber and Dampness in Buildings.

RTC Co-founder Jamie Willacy said: “Sam has come an extremely long way in a short space of time, and this accolade is fully deserved, and to have received the highest marks of everyone who took the examinations, he should be very proud.

“During his time completing the apprenticeship scheme, we saw something in Sam, and felt that he had all the attributes to become a good surveyor, so we decided to bring Sam into the office a couple of days a week, when we could afford to take him off site, and all credit to him, as Sam is indeed turning out to be an extremely good surveyor.”
