Digital business in expansion move

Local entrepreneur and Digitav business owner, Ian Mallam, has seen his ideas flourish into a successful business thanks to the council’s business launch service Get Started.

Ian is looking forward to the future in his new prime-area premises on Caunce Street, Blackpool, having outgrown his unit at FYCreatives on Church Street. Digitav specialises in building e-commerce websites, content management websites and online databases, in addition to providing internet marketing plans for numerous clients.

Ian said: “Initially FYC, as an incubator hub with first class offices and managed reception, was the ideal location to be based at, as it enabled me to work collaboratively with other creative tenants.

“However, as the business began to take off I knew that if I was to boost my own profile and expand I would need bigger premises to take on full-time staff.”

Ian now employs four people at Digitav, who also work on his latest projects Whisky-Online, a retail and whisky auction website, and Room Booker Online, a secure online software programme that enables hotels to promote themselves to potential clients. Thanks to Blackpool Council’s Get Started service and Boost Business Lancashire’s Growth Mentoring Programme, Ian had the encouragement and confidence to grow through impartial advice, guidance and support.

Blackpool Council is offering free parking at all council car parks on Saturday from 3pm until midnight, in aid of Small Business Saturday.

The offer aims to help local businesses and encouraging people to discover Blackpool’s wide variety quality of small shops, cafes and restaurants.
