Fylde coast party box pair busy after lockdown ended

Harry and Lucie Dorrans founded Play Chest in 2017, a year after adopting their baby son.

Harry and Lucie decided to start a business that would involve the family – whilst being lots of fun but also allow them the flexibility they needed to care for their youngster.

The Bispham pair offer “parties in a box” with activities posted out to families including such things as LEGO parties, Nerf gun equipment, giant garden games through to karaoke themed parties.

They said that strict hygiene procedures have given customers confidence and that since easing out of lockdown customers have been coming back and helping the family run business thrive.

Harry Dorrans said their procedures were way above anything suggested by the Government and each element of a party experience goes through a rigorous cleaning process; both before their party boxes are couriered out, and after their party boxes are delivered back to them.

He said: “We have catered for over 35,000 children since launching in 2017.

“Our Party Experience hire service has been very popular for families over the last couple of months as we offer a contactless return delivery service and are leading the industry with Covid-19 responsible party hire that can be used for families and social distanced bubbles.

“Our packages also include a free return delivery service to any mainland UK address provided by DPD. They also provide a time slot for delivery and collection. We supply do it yourself experiences with easy to follow setup, games and packing instructions. Nobody sets foot within your home.

“We have many repeat custom because our customers know they will receive thoroughly cleansed equipment.

“The party experiences are delivered on a Thursday and collected the following Monday so that each Play Chest box can be enjoyed to the max.”

He said the company was expecting even more business as there are more birthdays in September and October than other months.
